Norm Starks
I am mostly a self-taught artist, though I have taken a couple
of classes from a local artist in the past. I am attracted to old
buildings, landscapes and animals for my painting subjects. I especially
like old barns, seeing them as metaphors of life. I love to capture
their aging frames that often still serve functionally until they at
last succumb to old age and fall down--much like we all do.
I am the
winner of two State Awards in 2010 and 2011 in regional exhibitions
sponsored by the Wisconsin Regional Artists Association--one painting
was on exhibit in Madison this year and one will be on exhibit next
year. My works have also been on exhibit at a local art gallery here in
Beloit, WI.
